SADC warns against raw mineral exports, according to New Era

According to New Era, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has warned that the region risks missing an opportunity to industrialise if it keeps exporting minerals in raw form while importing finished products. According to New Era, SADC Executive Secretary Elias Mpedi Magosi on Tuesday called on governments, mining companies and international investors to turn those minerals into manufacturing industries and sustainable employment. That opportunity would not remain available indefinitely, he said, according to New Era. These elements are not confirmed by a second source.
